POG ARE... ![]() DEACON BROWN Keyboard According to myspace, Deacon is a gravelly baritone Deacon Brown was born in Bangkok, Thailand. At the age of seven he moved to England and immediately started taking piano lessons. He is best known for his work with noisy new wave band Amateur Ninja Club and electro punk folk outfit Pog. His solo work primarily has his voice accompanied by a piano or an acoustic guitar. Deacon’s songs are dark and brooding, though not entirely without humour or compassion. He has displayed a penchant for traditional ballads, favours love, loss and religion as lyrical subjects and comparisons to Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Jason Webley and Leonard Cohen have been drawn. He is currently recording the first album of his solo works in Brighton. AMATEUR NINJA CLUB MYSPACE DEACON'S SOLO MYSPACE ![]() KERRY STAPLETON Double bass, vocals Kerry has been in Pog for a couple of years, starting off on acoustic guitar when Annalise was playing bass. She spends a good deal of her waking life attached to stringed items, and is set to study playing double bass at degree level. A band whore of no meagre means, Kerry also plays bass for Philip Jeays and Wob. I bundled in a car with The Blue Minkies and played acoustic punk songs to a roomful of surprisingly indulgent punks. Pre Pog, I played songs solo a handful of times, but I'm glad I left it till when I did before going at it with sustained gusto. While Pog was slowly forming into what it is now, I sung with surrealist punk band Anal Beard - for 12 years in fact. I also played and filled in with Verity Turnip, Duppy Buster, Magic Bus, The Fish Brothers, Barnstormer and Combat Shock. Nowadays I play drums with Philip Jeays, and draw an unhealthy amount of comic strips. I also maintain that Doctor Who and Survivors are the best programmes ever, and Beyond The Poseidon Adventure isn't too bad once you've given it a chance. Playing on the Guns Of Castle Cary and Pastor Skull albums, he still found time to bounce around like a smacked-up Tigger. Before, during and since then, Wob is best known for his rocking, energetic and often very long solo and band sets that he's been playing in just about every town in the UK, and nearly every country in the world.
