Jamie’s son, Max, is angered and drepressed by her
Broken promises and continued drug use. This has a devastating effect on his health, social life and schooling.

While Jamie spends time on remand for robbery, one of her punters, a Deputy Head Teacher, visits her in jail. After Jamie’s release from prison, he finances her drugs and accompanies her to the crack house. His obsession and strange behaviour unnerve Jamie.

Angela meets Marie, whose daughter, Zoë,
is a crack/heroin addict and prostitute, with HIV.
Marie is desperate for someone to contain her daughter, whom she considers is a grave danger to society, but none of the agencies are interested.

Jamie struggles to sort her life out whilst on a methadone programme. However the system, and prejudice, continually let her down. She manages to hold down a full-time job, until she is sacked because of her criminal record. Disillusioned, Jamie turns to crack.
