Max continues his six month training course - building cycleways across the county. He is now a qualified dumper-truck driver. Upon completion of the course, in 5 weeks time, he hopes to get his card which will enable him to work on any building site. I am very proud of him for seeing the course through.

Unfortunately, things have been chaotic in Max's personal life recently. His girlfriend Susie is almost six months pregnant. Max has flipped yet again, as he did with his previous girlfriend when she was pregnant (see Crackhead 4).

He recently walked out on Susie (they were living with her mother) and has turned to heavy drinking, occasional drug use and womanizing. He hurts and shakes when he doesn't have alcohol, so the situation is very serious. We have tried to persuade him to seek help but he takes no notice. He has to do this for himself; none of us can do it for him.

On good days, Max can be a really lovely person; other times he is horrendous and verbally violent. I worry that he is going to lash out at somebody and end up in prison.

A new report on today's news states 'it has been proven that young people with ADHD are likely to inherit the problem, and that it is not the result of food additives or the failure of parents.' Max was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of fifteen, when he was arrested and charged with Grevious Bodily Harm. I know in my heart that I have been a good parent and there is nothing more I could have done for him.

IMax has exactly the same symptoms as Jamie: he gets very hyper, suffers deep depression, and is totally irrational in his thinking. His ex-girlfriend has also remarked how he appears to have a dual personality, like a Jekyll & Hyde. This is the exact same comment I made in my book (Crackhead 4).

Max is a living nightmare... he comes knocking on my door drunk, even though he lives forty miles away. He also phones in the early hours, so I now have to remember to turn my phone off before going to bed. I bump into him reguarly in both Minehead and Taunton. He is a living nightmare.

I love Max dearly but I just wish he would give me a break!
